GENERAL
REVIEW
When Greg sought the
services of R. L. Stevens, he had been unemployed for a month,
having been out-placed from an IT Manager position in a small
third party administrator of employee benefits. His
written objective was "I need your
assistance to acquire a position in a secure and stable
company. I want you to help me prevent and avoid the
situation that I am in now."
Greg was
extremely focused, concentrating most of his time and efforts
on his career search, while seeking an interim position.
He quickly secured a contract IT position, alleviating some of
his immediate financial concerns. Being well networked
in the community, he obtained many informational interviews
and even more contacts. Within a week of launching his
search, he had already received four interviews for positions
ranging from PC Technical Support to Help Desk Administration.
he had also spoken with a consulting firm about a possible
opportunity, which he opted not to pursue due to travel
requirements.
Greg replied to
a posting from the RLS website for a position that he wasn't
really sure was of interest, that of a Commercial IT Manager
for a large retail computer chain. After the interview,
in his debrief with his consultant, he decided that there were
many appealing aspects to the position. He would be able
to develop managerial skills, still utilizing his IT
background. And, the additional compensation was more in
line with achieving his personal financial goals.
"I know that we
will continue to work together as I move forward in my career.
Meanwhile, I will be looking to the RLS Network to assist me
in filling employment needs in my new management position."
